In this robotic laser welding application video courtesy of Novika Solutions (formerly CSTPQ), a FANUC R-2000iB robot is utilized to perform remote laser scanner welding of electric display signs. This system utilizes a laser processing head developed by Highyag Lasertechnologie called the RLSK. This RLSK laser processing head and R-2000iB robot coordinate the laser beam, focusing in both angle and depth, providing a tremendous advantage when compared to traditional laser scanner welding heads that only operate in two dimensions. The scanner and robot motion program is generated automatically through the RLSK Studio, providing excellent coordination for accurate multi-dimensional welding capabilities. High throughput and a reduction in teaching time is a key benefit to this new technology. Accurate weld placement reduces the setup time since there is no direct path teaching. This 3D remote robotic laser scanner welding process resulted in CSTPQ seeing their weld times reduced from hours to minutes when compared to traditional robotic 2D scanning and programming methods. The RLSK processing head is PC-based, and works in an integrated programming environment in which the RLSK head automatically creates the robot program and path. This type of robotic welding technology is ideal for enclosures for welding automotive components, as well as most industrial products.
