The video below features FANUC Paint Robots used in an automated button painting system developed by FANUC Robotics Authorized Integrator Thierica Equipment Company. The operator seen in the video holds a carrier loaded with numerous buttons near the RF tag reader to register process information for each carrier placed into the system. Process information includes color, style, gun and fluid settings, flash times, and core temperatures.
The carrier is loaded into the machine and automatically rotates while a de-ionizing spinning feather brush is lowered onto the parts to remove and evacuate loose particles prior to paint. The FANUC P-50iA robot takes the cleaned carrier from the load station, reads the RF Tag and transfers the carrier and process information to the robotic painting module by loading the index table swing arm.
The FANUC Paint Mate 200iA/5L robot tooled with dual spray guns provides flexibility in painting a large variety of button combinations and coatings. During the painting process, the carrier is automatically rotated clockwise and counter clockwise at precise RPM's to ensure proper paint coverage on all sides of the parts.
After painting, the FANUC P-50iA robot unloads the turntable, presented the RF tag to the reader, and then loads the carrier into a vertical process oven for flashing, curing, and cooling of the coating prior to unload. After the corresponding oven cycle has been completed the FANUC P-50iA robot removes the carrier and presents it to the RF tag reader to determine if another coating is needed or if it can be placed on the exit conveyor.
