Material removal robots, including grinding and polishing robots, helped an orthopedic implant manufacturer save costs. Utilizing one of FANUC’s robotic workcells, the polishing time of an orthopedic implant device could be reduced from 30 minutes to 12 minutes. In addition, scrap and rework were nearly eliminated with a robotic cell and the return on investment came within a year.
